What the Size 245/70R16 Means
Tire size plays a major role in how your vehicle rides, handles, and carries weight. The 245/70R16 designation refers to the tire's width, sidewall profile, and wheel diameter (16 inches). Matching your current size helps preserve ride quality and handling characteristics, while size changes may affect clearance, gearing, and load capacity.
Real-World Performance
On the road, the Cooper 245/70R16 XL Discoverer AT3 4S is built to provide stable handling, consistent traction, and predictable braking. Its tread design is engineered to manage water dispersion and promote even wear over time, helping drivers feel confident in daily driving situations.
Light Truck (LT) Tire Considerations
As a Light Truck (LT) tire, this Cooper 245/70R16 XL Discoverer AT3 4S is built with a stronger internal construction to handle higher loads and tougher use. LT tires are commonly used on pickup trucks, vans, and SUVs that tow, haul, or carry heavier cargo. The XL rating indicates reinforced sidewalls designed to support higher inflation pressures and added durability.
Fitment Guidance
The easiest way to confirm that 245/70R16 is correct is to look at the tires currently on your vehicle and read the size directly from the sidewall. Also make sure the load index (111) and speed rating (T) meet or exceed what you're running now. If you're unsure, we're happy to help you confirm fitment before ordering.
